Russel “Jack” Osweiler

Russel “Jack” Osweiler, 96, Klondike, died Friday morning, March 29, 2024 at Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Center.  He was born February 12, 1928 in Goodman, WI to William and Pearl (Schultz) Osweiler.  Jack grew up in Klondike where he attended Messenger Creek one-room school house.  As a young man, he served in the US Army during the Korean War and in 2019, went on the Old Glory Honor Flight out of Appleton.

In March of 1980, he married JoAnne Kreischer and were married 42 years.  Jack owned and operated a family farm for most of his life in the Klondike area and also did mason work and sold metal buildings.  Always having a large vegetable garden, the couple sold their home grown produce at their stand at Kelly Lake for many years.  He was a member of the Coleman American Legion Post #280.  At one time, Jack played in Jerry’s polka band as well as Monica and the Playboys polka band for many years.

Survivors are his children, Gary (Barb) Scheffen; Rick (Chris) Osweiler; Krystal (Dean) Flynn; Laurel (Frank) VanRiper; Mia (Marty) Rhodes; Joanna (Roger) Behnke; Jeni (Rob) Gray; Theresa (Tim) Arndt; two stepsons, Todd and Jeff Kafka; 23 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; one sister, Gloria Pagel; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife JoAnne in 2022, an infant brother Warren and stepdaughter Tracy Kafka.

Visitation will be held after 11:00 AM Friday, April 5, 2024 at Jones Funeral Service until a prayer service which will take place at 1:00 PM Friday with Fr. Walter Stumpf officiating.  Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Klondike.

The family would like to thank Meadowbrook nurses and staff for the loving care they provided Jack over the years and Unity Hospice for their recent care.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Old Glory Honor Flight (www.oldgloryhonorflight.org).
