Gary E. Frank

Gary E. Frank, 80, Gillett, died Tuesday evening, July 4, 2023 at the Meng Residence Hospice Center in DePere.  He was born July 9, 1942 in Clintonville to Elmer and Marge (Carson) Frank.  Gary grew up with his many siblings in Wisconsin and the UP.

On October 8, 1966 he married Joyce Houska in Michigan.  Following their marriage, the couple lived in Green Bay, Pulaski and Suring before retiring to Gillett in 2004.  Over the years, Gary was employed at Bark River culvert and equipment co, Peters Concrete and Mckeefry and sons and was also self-employed for a number of years. He also served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the Gillett American Legion Post, a lifetime member in the NRA and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.  An avid traveler and hunter, his travels included hunting for elk, moose, antelope, deer and turkey all over the US.  Gary also competed in truck pulling contests in the area for years.  He attended Hickory Church.

Survivors are his wife of 56 years, Joyce Frank, Gillett; his children, Brian (Lori) Frank, Green Bay; Kelly (Steve) Josephs, Fort Collins, CO; Chad Frank, Gillett; Laurie (Bart) Jossie, Gillett; 8 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 7 step-great grandchildren, and 3 step-great great grandchildren; four brothers, Doug (Amy) of Suring; Todd (Kate) Frank, Wausau; Dennis Frank and Troy Frank, Gillett; three sisters, Debbie (Ron) Olson, Florence,KY; Corrine Kuhlhanek, Omaha, NE; Nadine Rushton, Hobart;  one brother-in-law, Bill Curwick, Clifton, CO; one sister-in-law, Angela Frank, Tigard, OR; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Hughie, Dean, Bob, Larry, and Charles Frank, one sister, Sandy Curwick, one grandchild, Shawn Frank, one step-grandchild, Holly Chapin, and one step-great grandchild Bailey Chapin.

Visitation with the urn present will be held after 10:00 AM Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls until the time of service.  Memorial services will take place 1:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Anthes officiating.  Burial, with military honors will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Town of Spruce.

The Frank family would like to thank Unity Hospice for the care and concern shown Gary during their time together.  In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial may be made to Unity Hospice.
