Terry Zabel

Terry Zabel, 71, of Sobieski, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026 surrounded by family at home after a brief battle with cancer. Born to Robert and Barbara (Roehl) Zabel in Watertown, WI, Terry lived a life rich in passion, dedication, and love. Terry married wife, Bev Linskens, on August 16, 1997. Surrounded by nature, they created many wonderful memories at their home.

A dedicated father, Terry took immense pride in his daughters, Tracy and Terra. He cherished time spent with his family, creating lasting memories that will be fondly remembered and celebrated.

Terry's career in mill maintenance at Fort Howard spanned 40 years, showcasing his strong work ethic and commitment to his craft. In his 50s, he returned to school to pursue his passions for small engines and truck driving.

In his personal life, Terry was a true outdoorsman. He loved rifle and bow hunting, fishing, motorcycling and snowmobiling. Terry's greatest hunting accomplishment was bagging a 5x5 elk with his bow in Colorado in 2014. He had a knack for wrenching on a variety of machines and found joy in restoring automobiles and motorcycles. Car shows and swap meets were not just events for Terry-they were celebrations of his passion and a way to connect with fellow enthusiasts. His unique collection of items reflected his adventurous spirit and love for life.

Terry is survived by his wife of almost 29 years, Bev; daughter, Tracy (Scott Schoen) Carriveau; grandchildren, Dakota (Kari) Carriveau and Private First Class Chase Carriveau; great-granddaughter, Charlie Ann; and father, Robert Zabel. He is further survived by siblings, Jim (Sue) Zabel, Steve (Debbie) Zabel, Gina (Gaylin) Greetan, and Sandy (Dan) Schroeder; mother-in-law, Sue Ziemer; siblings-in-law, Nancy (Jon) Hagens, Shirley (Mike) Clinebell, and Steve Linskens; nieces and nephews, Corina (Chris Duprey) Graham, Kyle (Kristen) Zabel, Zac Tisch, Hannah (Carter Liebscher) Schroeder, Kevin (Sarah) Clinebell, and Scott (Katie) Clinebell; great nieces and nephews, Kaitlyn and Kalli Graham, Abel, Tatum, Kason, Braxton and Madison Zabel; and many other extended family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Terra; mother, Barbara; niece, Taylor Tisch; and father-in-law, Robert Linskens.

A visitation for family and friends will be held after 9:00 AM on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 PM. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
