Shirley Ann (Thomson) Yatso

Mar 14, 1938 - Jul 05, 2023

Shirley Ann (Thomson) Yatso, 85, Oconto Falls, died peacefully surrounded by her family at home Wednesday, July 5, 2023.   She was born March 14, 1938, in Lena to Ervin and Jean (Paulu) Thomson.   Shirley graduated from Coleman High School in 1956 and attended Prospect Secretarial School Milwaukee from 1956 – 1957.

On October 11, 1958 she married George Yatso.  Shirley assisted her husband on the farm and then worked at Oconto Falls Community Hospital as an Administrative Assistant.   She enjoyed baking her famous rolls, kolaches and Special K Bars that she lovingly shared with others.  She relished playing cards especially Cribbage, shaking a little dice, and quilting.   She was a die-hard Packers fan and attended Super Bowl 32.  Shirley was an avid adventurer and loved traveling with her husband to 16 different countries.  She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Lena and volunteered for the Feed My Sheep Food Pantry.  She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #302 and Hospital Auxiliary.

Shirley loved spending time with her wonderful sisters, traveling and celebrating family moments. They seemed to capture multiple photo shots at every gathering.   When the Sisters, “5 Aces”, were together you could hear the love of their laughter.

Survivors are her children, George (Anita) Yatso Jr, Brenda (Dan) Lowrance and Tom (Kristin) Yatso; her siblings, Nancy Rosner, Patty Carrier, Lynn Lord, Mary Bittner; her 10 loving grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband George, her daughter, Susie Gottlieb, her parents, her brother Roger, and four brothers-in-law:  Ken Rosner, Al Carrier, Mike Lord, and Larry Bittner.

Shirley will be missed by all who knew her.  Her legacy will be carried on as we all “Keep Smiling”.
