Paul Schmidt

Mar 5, 1949 — Jun 18, 2026

Oconto Falls

After a short and courageous battle with cancer, Skip entered his eternal home on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Skip was born on March 5, 1949, the only child to Stan and Margaret Schmidt. He graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1967 and still has life long friends Dick, Al, Moe, Steve and Greg. Skip went on to attend UW-Oshkosh and graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in Pharmacy. He worked for 45 years as a pharmacist and never missed a day of work.

Skip had a passion for golf and spent as much time on the course as he could. For more than forty years, he played on the same golf team alongside friends from high school and coworkers, competing at the Patriot in Abrams and River Island in Oconto Falls. One of his proud golfing achievements was scoring a hole-in-one at the Patriot.

Running was another of Skip’s passions. He was even among the participants in the very first Bellin Run. Beyond sports, Skip cherished the outdoors and looked forward to every deer camp with his longtime friends Howie, Pete, Al, and Moe. Those hunting trips and the friendships they fostered were among his most treasured traditions

Skip met and married his coworker, Joy (Neuman) Schmidt on April 30th, 1977. They were blessed with two children: daughter, Stephanie and her husband, Bill Paitl, along with their children, Eden and Dylan; and son, Jeff and his wife, Lauren (Anderson), along with their children, Ophelia and Anders. Skip was so proud of his family and never missed a game or a recital.

Skip is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Joy; children, Steph (Bill) and Jeff (Lauren); and cherished grandchildren, Eden, Dylan, Ophelia, and Anders. He is also remembered by his brother-in-law, Bob (Wanda) Neuman; nephew, Kiefer (Katie); grandniece, Sydney; and niece, Chelsea (Forest) Koczur. He was blessed with many dear friends who became like family, and whose love, support, and care meant so much to him and his family

He is preceded in death by his parents, Stan and Margaret Schmidt; and in-laws, Allen and Lois Neuman.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 at Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls. Gathering will be from 9:00 AM -12:00 PM followed by a funeral service at noon. Pastor Chris Antoniak officiating. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Oconto Falls.

Memorials can be made to Kingdom Come Food Pantry in Oconto Falls and River Island junior golf league.

We want to thank Dr. Amy Romandine Kratz and her nurse Dana, and Green Bay Oncology for their wonderful care and concern, as well as Oconto Falls Ambulance and Officer Wagner from the Oconto Falls Police Department.
