Lillian Mae Konitzer

Lillian Mae (Courchaine) Konitzer, born on August 5, 1929, in Oconto County, died peacefully on September 9, 2026. She was the daughter of William Courchaine and Eva Noel. Growing up in Oconto County, Lillian graduated from Oconto Falls High School in the class of 1947.

On July 4, 1947, Lillian married the love of her life, Edward Konitzer, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Their bond flourished over decades filled with shared adventures, laughter, and love. Together, they called various places home, including Two Rivers and Milwaukee, before settling in Gillett in 1963. For 20 years, Lillian owned and operated "Lil's Clothing" in Gillett, where she became a beloved figure in the community, known for her warmth and genuine care for her customers. Her favorite job came later in life when she was a waitress. She loved being around people. While living in Milwaukee, Lil took care of 21 foster babies until the babies were adopted out.

Lillian's spirit for adventure was evident in her travels with Edward on their Honda Gold Wing 1200. Together, they traveled over thousands of miles, embarking on remarkable journeys, including a memorable 9,000-mile trek to Alaska.

A longtime member of St. John's Catholic Church in Gillett, Lillian was a beacon of faith and support for those around her. Lil was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother who enjoyed and loved her family immensely.

The last two years of her life, Lil found a new home at Good Shepherd in Seymour. Lil’s family wishes to thank the team at Good Shepherd for their wonderful care of Lil and also would like to thank Moments Hospice for their long term loving care of Lil.

She leaves behind a family who will carry forward her spirit of love and adventure. Lillian will be missed by her children, Patricia (Gary) Pawlak of Bonduel, Gerald (Diane) Konitzer of DePere, and Gary (Michele) Konitzer of Kaukauna; son-in-law, Randy Thorson of Hortonville; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie, her parents, William and Eva; her beloved daughter, Judy Thorson; and all nine of her siblings.

Friends and family will gather to honor Lillian's remarkable life. A visitation will take place at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, beginning at 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 12, 2026, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, officiated by Father Tom Pomeroy. A burial service will occur at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Oconto Falls.
