LaVonne “Vonnie” Jones

Apr 15, 1928 - Sep 30, 2023

LaVonne “Vonnie” Jones, 95, Gainesville, GA, formerly from Milwaukee, died Saturday afternoon, September 30, 2023 at home while being cared for by her two children.  She was born April 15, 1928 in Milwaukee to Allen and Dorothy (Snyder) Schultz.  While growing up in Milwaukee and traveling to Oconto County with her parents, Vonnie would meet her future husband in their youth.  Following graduation from Girls Tech High School with the class of 1945, she worked at the Milwaukee City Club in the well-known Pfister Hotel for years.  On September 2, 1950 she married Leonard “Len” Jones and the couple made their home in Milwaukee.  Because of her husband’s employment in the paint business, the couple moved with their young family to Atlanta, GA and in 1968, they purchased the company he was employed with.  Following their retirement in 1982, the couple enjoyed traveling with family and friends.

Survivors are her two children, Jud Jones and Lynn Jones, Gainesville, GA; many nieces and nephews who mostly reside in Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Len in 2004, one sister Phyllis Meske and half-brother Butch Schultz.

Visitation with the urn present will be held after 10:00 AM Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls, followed by a service of remembrance at 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery in Oconto Falls.
