Oct 01, 1937 - Nov 30, 2022

Janet Gallagher, 85, Shawano, formerly of Oconto Falls, died Wednesday evening, November 30, 2022 at home in the presence of her two daughters.  She was born October 1, 1937 in Oconto Falls to Wesley and Hilda (Rusch) Christensen.  Janet graduated Oconto Falls High School with the class of 1955 and after graduation, began working for the Oconto Electric Coop.

In 1960, she married Tom McDougal and in 1968, purchased the Windmill Bar & Restaurant which they ran together until 1977.  In 1974, Janet returned to work at Oconto Electric until retiring in January of 2000.  On January 6, 1979 she married Lowell Gallagher and later moved to Shawano.  Janet will be fondly remembered as a fun loving person, being everyone’s friend and willing to help neighbors out however she could.  As an avid reader, she enjoyed the summertime when she could sit on her porch, soak up the sun and do her gardening.  Her granddaughter Angel was the highlight of her life and together, they had many good times and made great memories.

Survivors are her two daughters, Candace (fiancé Tommie Smith) Stora, Chicago; Jody (special friend Kevin) Sheaffer, Shawano; one granddaughter, Angel Eggleston, Chicago; her stepchildren, Candace Foss, Brenda Reynolds and Rachel (Brian) O’Brien; six step-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Vickie Gallagher, Green Bay; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lowell, infant brother Jim, one sister Joyce (Ed) Arndt, niece Judy Arndt, stepdaughter Susan Gallagher, stepson John Gallagher and brother-in-law Gary Gallagher.

Janet’s family would like to thank doctors, nurses and staff at Aurora Hospital in Green Bay, as well as Unity Hospice for their care and concern shown to all of them during their time together.
