Gregory Haines

Oct 29, 1963 - Mar 02, 2023

Gregory Haines, 59, Abrams, died suddenly of natural causes Thursday morning, March 2, 2023 at an area hospital.  He was born October 29, 1963 to Arthur and Donna (Schumacher) Haines in Argonne, WI.  Greg grew up in Lena where he attended public schools, graduating from high school with the class of 1982.  Following graduation, he worked at Frigo Cheese.

Three weeks before he was to marry Karen Baker, Greg was in a serious automobile accident which resulted in a long hospitalization.  The couple was still married at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay on August 30, 1986.  Greg was employed at AMS in Green Bay for many years as a provider service representative.  He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls.  Greg will lovingly be remembered as an avid sports fan, especially of the Wisconsin Badgers, someone who never complained, said a bad word about anyone, always smiled, and constantly put other’s needs ahead of his own.

Survivors are his wife, Karen Haines, Abrams; his father, Arthur (Mildred) Haines, Argonne; his siblings, Thelma (Mike) Haines, Beloit; Debbie (Evan) Mader, CA; Leta Haines, Menominee, MI; Teresa (Ace) LaCombe, Oconto; Jerry (Kimberly) Haines, Abrams; Jenny (Rod) Christensen, Suring; Matthew (Jessi) Haines, Wausau; Karen’s family, Don (Cis) Baker, Rhinelander; David (Krisan) Baker, Appleton; Kathy (Dean) Tappa, Lena; his two dogs, Bell and Irma; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and in-laws, Edward and Irene (Radke) Baker.

Visitation will be held after 11:00 AM Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls until the time of service.  Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM at the church with Pastor Gary Olson officiating.  Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls is serving the Haines family.

People are encouraged to wear sports related clothing to Greg’s services.  As one who supported local food pantries, please bring food items to donate or give directly to the pantry of your choice.
