Eric Russell Fischer

On a beautifully sunny fall day, Eric R. Fischer entered his heavenly home with his loved ones nearby.

Eric was born March 14, 1947, in Green Bay, WI, to Hilda and Roy Fischer. The third of four sons, Eric grew up on the family farm and quickly found his love for the outdoors, hunting, trapping, and fishing at a nearby lake. On May 20, 1967, he married his love, Carolyn Wink, and together they started their family in Brillion, WI. A few years later, they purchased property in the Stiles area where they built a home amongst the trees, which he later crafted into cabinets, furniture, and heirlooms his family can forever cherish. He left every part of the homestead changed for the better.

Throughout his lifetime, hard work and trials were common, but a fear of failure never deterred Eric from pursuing a vision. This self-determination and study led to a career as an electrician, eventually managing teams and engineering systems in the Green Bay and Pulaski area canning companies. Other endeavors included mink farming, piloting a Cessna, aluminum foundry work, and raising cattle in the woods. Eventually, Eric found his passion and success with electric motor repair, where he became self employed and established Fischer Electric, assisting local farmers and businesses throughout northeast Wisconsin for many years.

Eric's passions led to various hobbies. Sled-dog racing was a year-round pursuit, eventually securing him a Wisconsin State Championship in 1979. Fishing trips on Green Bay and Shawano Lake as well as in Ontario, Canada, were part of the fall experience that brought peace after a busy summer season. Eric also found joy hunting deer and grouse on his property, and he often joined his sons, grandson and friends walking the prairies of South Dakota with his faithful labs Rusty and Fritz.

Eric's devout Christian faith now gives us strength to know that his earthly struggles are over and he resides with the Saviour. Eric will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Fischer, and their children: Anthony Fischer (Kim), Adam Fischer (Sharon), and Heidi Delzer (Richard). He will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren: Blake, McCoy, Ava, Casey, Kayla (Damon), Colin, Natalie (Andrew), Hailey, and Lily. He also leaves behind two brothers: Ted Fischer & Dick Fischer (Marj) as well as a sister-in-law, Mary Muthig (Mark). Eric is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Brother Roy (Bud) Fischer joined Eric in heaven less than 24 hours after Eric's passing.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 9:00 AM until time of service at Riverview Alliance Church, Oconto Falls, Wisconsin. Eric's Celebration of Life will begin at 10:30 AM with lunch and fellowship to follow, officiated by Pastor Steve Kellett. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Oconto Falls.

The family would like to thank Eric's caregivers throughout his stay at Meadowbrook. A special thanks to the ones who brightened his life with their presence, especially his best friend Leland VanDrese, for his friendship and support throughout the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in Eric's honor to help find a cure for Alzheimer's and dementia.
