Edmond “Joe” Joseph Sutrick, born February 13, 1958, in Rockford, Illinois, to Edmond and Grace (Zarling) Sutrick, passed away unexpectedly on December 11, 2025, in Oconto Falls at the age of 67. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Joe was a man whose life was defined by hard work, generosity, and deep love for his family.
Joe was one of the hardest-working men you could meet. He believed in showing up, doing the job right, and taking care of his responsibilities—not for recognition, but because it was simply who he was. He was naturally creative and a gifted problem solver, always willing to try new things and take on challenges. Joe took pride in doing things well and was known for his strong work ethic, hands-on approach, and readiness to help others whenever needed.
An adventurous spirit at heart, Joe loved hunting, bass fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors, where life felt a little slower and simpler. Music was another great passion—he enjoyed listening to a wide range of tunes and could often be found strumming his guitars. Riding his Harley, dirt track racing, and tinkering with cars brought him endless joy. If someone needed help, Joe was there—quietly, selflessly, and without hesitation.
More than anything, Joe’s heart belonged to his family. The roles that meant the most to him were husband, dad, and Grandpa. He was married to his wife, Shirley, for 26 years and was deeply devoted to his children and grandchildren. Known for his playful sense of humor and gentle teasing, he cherished time spent together, laughter, and shared moments. His love was steady, dependable, and always present.
Joe is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Allyn (Lisa) Schaal, Eric (Sarah) Sutrick, Lance (Emily) Arneson, Eric “Chummy” (Bridget) Arneson, Kyle Arneson, Justin (Cassandra) Arneson, and Tyler (Ashley) Sutrick; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Dennis (Jan) Sutrick Sr., Bob (Kathy) Sutrick, Al Sutrick, Dano (Mary) Suttrek, Gary (Deb) Sutrick, Karen Boettcher, Cheryl (Dan) Fountaine, and Kevin Sutrick Sr., Bruce Frechette, and Darlene (Jim) Kellow; brothers-in-law, Al (Paula) Birr, Larry (Cindy) Birr, and Don (Tina) Birr; along with many “adopted” kids and grandkids who held a special place in his heart.
He is also survived by his best friend, Robert “Bubba” Moye, who he considered a brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmond (Lillian) Sutrick and Grace Sutrick; sister-in-law, Jane Sutrick; and brothers-in-law, Tom Birr and Gary (Beth) Birr.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a viewing after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Katy Tomlanovich officiating.
The family extends a special thank you to the Oconto Falls Area Ambulance and the Oconto County Sheriff’s Department for their compassionate service.
Joe’s legacy lives on in his family—in the values he passed down, the stories that will continue to be told, and the love that will never fade. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
