Donna Lou Albert

Jun 17, 1933 - May 29, 2023

Donna Lou Albert, 89, Oconto Falls, died Memorial Day, May 29, 2023 at her home of 66 years.  She was born June 17, 1933 in Green Bay to Blaine and Lillian Schenk.  She grew up in Oconto where she graduated high school with the class of 1950.

On March 25, 1950 she married the love of her life Steve F. Albert Sr. at First American Lutheran Church in Oconto.  Following their marriage, the couple farmed in Suring before moving to the Town of Gillett in 1957.  It was here where she raised seven children while keeping the family farm going on a daily basis.  Donna was one of the hardest working farm women one would ever be privileged to know.  She also loved all of her dogs over the years from German Shepherds to Boston Terriers and many cats.  Donna enjoyed gardening, canning all of her produce, caring for her peonies bushes and bridal wreath.  She was known for growing rhubarb like no one else!  Donna also enjoyed watching the birds and deer out her window everyday while watching westerns on True Grit!  The highlight of Donna’s life was being with her children and grandchildren as well as vacationing in the Western United States and Canada.

Survivors are her six children, Steve A. Jr., Michael (Cindy) and Edward all of Oconto Falls; Robert (Teresa), Augusta, KS; Paul (Bernadette), Tomahawk; Kathleen (Robert) Spreeman, Peshtigo; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and one on the way; four great-great grandchildren; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Oliver Albert and Julia Swab, both of Canada; many nieces and nephews; her beloved dog Danny and cats Mj and Doria.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Martin Skowlund, husband Steve Sr. 2007, son Jim in 2020, infant daughter Lynn , one sister Arletta (Milo Sr.) Noack, her in-laws, John and Mary Albert, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joe (Jackie), Marguerite, John, Mike (Andrea) Albert, Mary (Steve) Prytula and James Swab, all of Canada.

Visitation will be held after 9:00 AM Monday, June 5, 2023 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls until the time of service.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Beth Macha officiating.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Oconto.
