Corrine M. Cherney

Corrine M. Cherney, 90, Green Bay, formerly Oconto Falls, died Friday morning, February 11, 2022 at a Green Bay area hospital.  She was born February 13, 1931 in Oconto County to James and Mildred (Kershek) Prausa.  Corrine grew up in Oconto County on the family farm and graduated from Oconto Falls High School with the class of 1949.

On May 13, 1950 she married Peter Cherney at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Following their marriage, the couple lived in Green Bay before moving back to Oconto Falls two year later.  While living in Oconto Falls she was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.  Corrine will be lovingly remembered as a devoted Mother and Grandmother.

Survivors are her four children, Judy (Wayne) Depner, Black Creek; Randy (Carolyn) Cherney, Phelps; Pam (Gary) Van Laanen, Green Bay; Mike Cherney, Black Creek; four grandchildren, Micah and Stacie Depner, Peter Cherney and Jesse (Crystal) Henrichs; two great grandchildren, Alexis Cherney and Summer Henrichs; one sister, Betty Prausa, Pulaski; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Peter in 1966 and three brothers, Arlyn, Alvis and Glenn (Patti) Prausa and one sister, Cleone Kosner.

Visitation will be held after 10:00 am Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls until the time of service.  Funeral services will be held 12 noon Wednesday at the funeral home with Deacon Peter Gard officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery, Oconto Falls.

The Cherney family would like to thank Emerald Bay Assisted Living in Hobart and Unity Hospice for their care and concern shown Corrine during their time together.
