Carol Osgood

Carol Mae Subotnik-Hermann-Osgood, 85, died Thursday evening, September 8, 2022 at home with family present.  She was born in Milwaukee, WI on January 26, 1937 to Steven A. Subotnik and Lucille E. Greenwood Subotnik,

Carol spent her youth in the cities of Big Bend, Muskego and Mukwonago, WI and attended Mukwonago High School.

On June 30, 1956, she married John E Hermann.  To this union were born seven children.  Kathy, John Jr., Sherry, Gary, Gail, Susan and Lori.  Carol and John were divorced in 1972.  On December 29, 1977 she married LeRoy D. Osgood.  To this union was born one son, LeRoy David.

During her youth and young adult years Carol worked at restaurants waitressing and cooking and for local farmers picking produce.  Her young adult years were spent raising her children and moving to Oconto Falls, WI.  Her interest throughout life were her family, animals in general, horses in particular, fishing, hunting, and gardening.  In 1978, she started working for Oconto County Unified Health Services, where she retired in 1989.  She moved to Bellview, WA in 1989 and to Kansas City, MO in 1990 due to her husband’s employment.  Carol returned to Oconto Falls in 1993 and remained there for the rest of her life.  She worked at Meadowbrook Nursing Home, in the kitchen part-time for four years before retiring for good.

Carol is survived by 12 children: Kathy Blickle, Calico Rock, AR; Sherry Street, Gary(Sheila) Hermann, Lori (Eddie) Pavlovich and LeRoy Hermann, all of Oconto Falls, WI, Susan (David) Shields, Racine, WI; Gail (Danny) Lenz, Columbia, TN; Elwyn “Bud” Osgood and Jodi Osgood, all of Racine WI; David (Melodie) Osgood, Kenosha, WI; John (Nancy) Osgood, Oconto; Lynn Osgood, Mountain, WI; one brother, Steven (Donna) M. Subotnik Sr., Gillett, WI; 27 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; many nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and many good friends.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, eight brothers and sisters who died in infancy, her first husband, John E, Hermann, Sr., her second husband, LeRoy D. Osgood and her son John E. Hermann, Jr., mothers-in-law, Violet Hermann and Flora Osgood, fathers-in-laws Lester Hermann and Ross Osgood, sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at Unity Hospice and all the staff at Bellin Health Systems.

Private visitation was held at Jones Funeral Services in Oconto Falls on Saturday, September 10, 2022.  There will be no funeral service at this time.  There will be a celebration of life next summer at a time and place to be determined.
