Carl E. Johnson

Jun 18, 1926 - Sep 19, 2021

Carl E. Johnson was called home where hunting and fishing adventures are perfect each and every day. He was born on June 18, 1926 to Gustaf and Elsie (Ekman) Johnson. He was baptized on September 5, 1926 in the Town of Maple Valley, Wisconsin in the Evangelical Lutheran Congregation.  He grew up on the family farm, Oconto Falls, WI.

On December 17, 1960 Carl married Ruth Clausen-Belongia in Menomonee, MI. Carl lived in the Green Valley area all of his life where he farmed. He was also employed by the Scott Paper Co. in Oconto Falls; retiring in 1985 after 32 years of dedicated service. Carl will be lovingly remembered as a kind, gentle and generous husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His witty and dry sense of humor will be greatly missed. Carl loved family, the farm, gardening, outdoors, fishing and deer hunting. He believed it is better to sit in a deer stand thinking about God than to sit in church thinking about deer hunting.

Survivors are one son, Kent Johnson; two grandchildren, Kurt Johnson and Danielle (Brad) Smith; two great grandchildren, Blaine and Charolette Johnson. Three step-children: Sandra Schuster and her family, John (Robie) Schuster, Deborah (Robert) Goodine, Connie Tikalsky and Julie (Robert) Popp; Tim (Roz) Belongia and their family, Lorraine (Craig) Jorgenson, James Belongia and Timothy (Kellie) Belongia. And, Rene’ Schabow and her family, Suzy (Gary) McKeefry and Shari (Ron) Bitters. Two brothers, Arnold Johnson and David (Janice) Johnson; one sister, Lillian (George) Friedl; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth in 1998, one son Gary Johnson, one son-in-law, John “Jack” Schuster, two sisters, Ruth (Percy) Nass and Alma (Sylvan) Salesky, three brothers, Leonard (Mim) Johnson, Raymond Johnson and Gustave (Agnes) Johnson and sister-in-law, Joyce Johnson.

A special thanks to Janelle Schaal, APNP, Leah, Alicen, Brianna and Mary (Aurora Hospice), James Clemens, MD and Carl’s caregiver Sharen Krepline for their care going the extra mile for Carl. Additional thanks to Garth Bentz and Jerry & Laurie Brown for a lifetime of friendship and a helping hand.

Visitation will be held after 9:00 am Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls until the time of service. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor David Hatch officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
