Brian James “Turk” Pagel, age 60, passed away on November 2, 2025, in Fairland, Oklahoma. Born on December 4, 1964, in Lena, Wisconsin, Brian lived a life marked by quiet strength, generosity, and a deep love for both people and animals. He is survived by his partner of 19 years, Daniel Johnson. Brian and Daniel loved to take road trips where Brian’s love of old “twangy” country was predominately overridden by Daniel’s love of the 80’s. They were always trying new food and restaurants and never forgot to share with their beloved Basset Hounds. Brian enjoyed shopping at Menard’s and Fleet Farm; the man’s shopping mall.
Throughout his life, Brian worked in several hands-on professions that reflected his strong work ethic and practical skills. He spent time as a long-distance truck driver with CTS and co-owned a beverage company, both in the Green Bay, Wisconsin area. At the time of his passing, he was a truck driver and trained new drivers for Eagle Redi-Mix in Bella Vista, Arkansas. These roles suited his dependable nature and his ability to tackle any challenge with calm determination.
Brian was known for being a quiet and nurturing soul. To those who knew him well, he was not only reliable but also engaging—always ready for a good conversation and quick with a helping hand. His garage was a testament to his love of fixing things; filled with tools he used often and shared freely. Whether it was cars, tractors, or household repairs, there was little Brian couldn’t mend.
His home was also filled with warmth during the holidays thanks to his talent in the kitchen. A great cook, Brian brought people together through food and laughter. The aromas from his holiday meals lingered long after the plates were cleared, creating memories cherished by all who gathered around his table.
A devoted dog lover, Brian shared many joyful weekends with his beloved basset hounds—Beezer, Roscoe, and Hunter. All it took was the sound of the car door opening for them to leap in with excitement, ready for another adventure by his side.
Brian is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Sandy Shave and Amy Vandenlangenberg, and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry forward the memory of his kindness and steady presence. He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Pagel, and mother, Jeannette Pagel and by his brothers, Danny, Randy, and Les Jr. Pagel and sister, Kathy Pagel.
May Brian’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a reminder of the quiet power of loyalty, generosity, and love. A celebration of Brian's life will be held for family and friends on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Blue Spruce in Spruce, WI.
