Bonnie Lou Lorraine (Null) Monfort

Nov 29, 1932 - Mar 04, 2024

Bonnie Lou Lorraine (Null) Monfort, 91, Lena, died peacefully at home in the care of her family Monday morning, March 4, 2024. She was surrounded with love when she went to be with her Heavenly Father.

Bonnie was born to Thomas A. and Elizabeth “Pearl” Null, in Whiting, Iowa, and was the eighth of ten children. Bonnie had four brothers and five sisters, Dorothy, Ethel, Aaron, Merlin, Vivian, Earl, Virgil, Nellie, and Patricia. They grew up farming and living off the land. She graduated from Central High School class of 1950, in Sioux City, Iowa.

Bonnie worked after graduation as a secretary/typist for United Wholesalers in Sioux City. During this time she met Henry “Hank” J. Monfort while he was stationed there in the US Air Force. They were married on March 7, 1953 at the Sioux City Air Base Chapel.

Following their marriage and Hanks’ discharge from the Air Force the couple moved to Kelly Brook where they owned and operated a family farm and raised seven children.  Because Hank worked at the local paper mill, Bonnie and the kids kept the farm running, raising animals, crops and maintaining a large family garden.

Bonnie was a longtime and active member of the Hickory United Methodist Church where she served on many committees.  She volunteered as a Kelly Brook 4-H Leader and was once an avid bowler with the Spruce Ballroom team and enjoyed the game of golf in her retirement years.  Bonnie was a Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed traveling with her daughters and friends.
