Betty Jane Schlorf

Apr 24, 1927 - Mar 02, 2023

Betty Schlorf, 95, Morgan, died Thursday morning, March 2, 2023 at The Cottages in Oconto Falls.  She was born April 24, 1927 in Klondike to Matthew and Lucille (Rasmussen) Poradek.  On December 18, 1948 she married Bernard Schlorf and they had one daughter Cindy.  When Cindy was one year old, her father died October 25, 1956 and Betty became a single parent.  Years later, a close family friend Donald Teschke came into their lives and Betty and Donald spent over 50 years together until his death in 2011.  Never one to shy away from hard work, Betty farmed and was once employed at Gillett Plywood and the Westside Mart grocery store in Oconto Falls.  She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.  Betty enjoyed gardening, baking pies, playing cards, listening to polka music, watching Wheel of Fortune and going to rummage sales.

Survivors are her only daughter, Cindy (Leonard) Wahl, Morgan; one granddaughter, Dana (Matt) Gaulke, Morgan; two great grandchildren, Mason and Evelyn Gaulke; two sisters, Janet Nickels, Kelly Lake; Lorraine Hendzel, Pulaski; several nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard Schlorf, the longtime love of her life Donald Teschke, two brothers Alfred and infant Ralph Poradek and one sister Madeline Shepherd.

Private family burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls.

The family would like to thank Serenity Gardens in Gillett, The Cottages Memory Care in Oconto Falls and Promedica Hospice for their care and concern shown Betty over the years.
