Bennett Robert Heyrman

Sep 26, 2006 - Nov 13, 2021

Bennett Robert Heyrman, 15, Oconto, died Saturday, November 13, 2021 due to many health complications from the effects of CMV (Cytomegalovirus) from birth.  Because of these complications, Bennett needed 24 hour care, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  While it tested his as well as his caregiver’s strength on a daily basis, he became a pillar of strength to everyone who came into and was part of Bennett’s remarkable life.  “Benny” as he was sometimes known to those closest to him, possessed a beautiful smile and long eyelashes which could turn anyone’s frown upside down or get the attention of those caring for him with his irresistible charm.  He knew what he wanted and just how to get it.

The youngest child of Sean and Stephanie (Exferd) Heyrman was born September 26, 2006, not knowing the challenges which lay ahead or the profound and positive impact Bennett would have in the world.  Even his siblings Mackenzie and Sterling learned how best to care for their little brother in their youth and his world was always better when his sister was with him and his brother would make him laugh.  Benny had a love for cartoons, especially Finding Nemo as well as Mickey Mouse, SpongeBob, PJ Masks and Chicken Little. .  The brighter the colors and faster animation would make him happy and the harder he would laugh.  He eventually learned to communicate with his eye rolls or voice he could make through his ever present trach, letting others know what he liked or didn’t.

Survivors are his parents, Sean and Stephanie Heyrman; sister, Mackenzie Heyrman, brother, Sterling Heyrman; maternal grandparents, Paulette and Ken Exferd; paternal grandparents, Pam McDonald Lorenz and David Heyrman; paternal great grandmother, Donna “Granny” McDonald; aunts and uncles, Jennifer (Michael) Wickman and children, Alissa and Evan; Jackie (Scott) Roskom and children Abigail, Riley and Brady; Nicole (Brian) Olson and children Cloey Leisner, Addison and Nate; other relatives and friends, his daily care nurses, Mary, Julie, Katie, Anna, Amy, Michele, Paige, Brenda, Andrea, Jen, Jessica, Steph S. from school, Nancy and Christine.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents, Alton “Bill” and Martha Delzer and paternal great grandparents, Robert and Carol Heyrman.

Visitation with the urn present will take place after 10:00 am Saturday, November 12, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church, 133 Jackson St. Oconto, WI  54153 until the time of service.  Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Saturday at the church with the Rev. Craig R. Alwin officiating.  A potluck meal will follow in the parish dining hall.

“This boy makes my heart smile!!  He’s laughing hysterically at his cartoons as I’m getting him ready for bed.  He has NO idea what is happening in the world around us..how it’s in, what seems to be such turmoil,  All he knows is love.  Love from mom n dad, brother and sisters, grandparents, his nurses (who are just like our family), aunts/uncles/cousins, extended family..the list goes on.  I wish everyone could experience just one day through the eyes of this child, maybe this crazy world would/could be a much better place?” Mom 10/28/2020

Special thanks to HSHS St. Vincent Hospital Children’s Hospital, American Family Children’s Hospital, Unity Hospice, Oconto Unified School District, Oconto County B-3, Dad’s employers at Schrieber Foods and J.F. Ahern and Local 400 as well as Oconto Fire & Rescue.
