Barbara Ann Tait, 80, Sheboygan, died unexpectedly Monday morning, February 2, 2026. Born on January 12, 1946, in New Berlin to Walter and Eleanor (Stormer) DeWerth, Barb attended area schools and went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree from UW Whitewater. She met John Tait in college and they were married September 16, 1967. Barb was a dedicated homemaker who poured her heart and soul into her family, celebrating every moment with pride for her children and grandchildren.
Known for her generosity and kindness, Barb spent countless hours volunteering at local public schools and enriching the lives of those around her. She was a talented seamstress, had a passion for baking, and truly thrived in her flower and vegetable gardens. After dedicating herself fully to her family, Barb found fulfillment working at the Aurora Physical Therapy Department. In her retirement, she enjoyed donating her time and talents to various local charities.
A faithful Catholic, she demonstrated unwavering love for others, embodying the teachings of her faith in her daily life. Her caring spirit and nurturing heart will be remembered by all who had the joy of knowing her.
Survivors are her seven children, Andrew (Amy) Tait, Jennifer Sowinski, Brian (Meaghan) Tait, Kathryn (John) Vergeront, Alison (Dave Galuska) Tait, Peter (Elizabeth) Tait, and Robert (Naomi) Tait; ten grandchildren, Brianne Bastman, Brady (Jess) Tait, Elaina and Matthew Sowinski, Carter, Chandler and Caris Tait, Taylor and Henry Vergeront, and Bode Tait Nelson; her only great grandson, Ari Reed Bastman; and many nieces and nephews and other extended family members. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire her family and friends.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John, and her parents.
Visitation will take place after 10:00 am Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls until the time of service. Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home with Deacon Peter Gard officiating. Burial will follow on the Tait family plot in St. Anthony Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
