Barbara M. Zabel

Barbara M. Zabel, 87, Cecil, died suddenly of natural causes Tuesday morning, January 25, 2022 at home with her beloved husband and dog Sadie by her side.  The youngest child of 13 children was born August 24, 1934 to Robert and Helen (Helm) Roehl in Lake Mills, WI.

In 1950, she married the love of her life Robert “Bob” Zabel in Watertown where they enjoyed a life of farming.  In 1964, they moved to Oconto Falls and raised their three sons and two daughters.  Barbara was employed at Community Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls for 12 years.  In 1993, they built their retirement lake home in Cecil where many great memories were made.  She had a strong love for her family, crocheting, reading, playing musical instruments, especially the humstrum and cooking for her family and friends, making certain no one left hungry.

She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Bob Zabel; five children, James (Sue) Zabel, Terry (Bev) Zabel, Steven (Debbie) Zabel, Gina (Gaylin) Greetan and Sandy (Dan) Schroeder; five grandchildren, Tracy, Corina, Kyle, Zac and Hannah; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Florence Nass; special friends, Scott and Cindy Jansen; her sweet dog, Sadie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 11 siblings and two cherished granddaughters, Terra Zabel and Taylor Tisch.

Visitation with the urn present will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls.

Barbara will be greatly missed by her family and friends but stay in our hearts forever.
