Alyce L. Ankerson

Alyce L. Ankerson, 101, Gillett, died Sunday morning, October 31, 2021 at St. Clare Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls.  She was born March 27, 1920 in rural Oconto Falls to Anton and Astrid (Nelson) Anderson.  As a young lady, she moved to San Diego, CA with her two brothers, Arnold and Merlin “Chet” Anderson, to work at Consolidated AirCraft assembling airplanes for the war effort.

On September 23, 1950 she married Robert M. Ankerson in Oconto.  The couple lived in Gillett for all of their married lives where Alyce once worked at Mirro Manufacturing.  Alyce enjoyed traveling with her husband Bob and camping.  She dearly loved caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors are two sons, Donald (Katherine) Ankerson and Jerry (Holly) Ankerson, all of Gillett; four grandchildren, Jerry (Katherine) Ankerson Jr., Brian and Ryan Ankerson, Tamara (Paul) Jennings; ten great grandchildren, Lauren, Veronica, Alyce, Isaak, Sophie and Noah Ankerson, Hunter and Aubrey Ankerson, Jaylynn Widen and Dominik Jennings; three sisters-in-law, Helen Anderson, Kelly Lake; Ione Stender and Leona Bergman, both of Green Bay; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Astrid (Nelson) Anderson, her husband of 56 years Robert in 2006 and her six brothers, Clarence (Meta) Anderson, Robert Anderson, Clifford (Elaine) Anderson, Anton (Delores) Anderson Jr., Arnold (Viola) Anderson Sr. and Merlin “Chet” (Faye) Anderson and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Visitation will be held after 11:00 am Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls until the time of service.  Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Andrew Jantz officiating.  Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls.

The Ankerson family would like to thank Becky Magee and the nurses and staff of St. Clare Hospital for the care and concern shown Alyce during their time together.
