Alan Ivan Christopherson, 85, of Oconto Falls, died peacefully on June 20, 2025. He was born one of nine children on September 5, 1939 in Lena to August and Isabel (Burg) Christopherson. He was raised on a farm where County Highway J crosses the Little River. He graduated from Lena High School with the class of 1957. Upon graduation, Al joined the US Navy and served three years, after which he briefly attended University of Wisconsin and Wisconsin State College. He married Verla Durocher in 1962 and together they raised one son, Vernal.
He was a police officer for Oconto County and the City of Oconto Falls. Al also worked for Mackay Nursery and even started his own landscaping business with a partner. He then worked many years for American Archery Co, while also running a private archery shop out of his basement. Ultimately, Al worked for Universal Converter where he retired in 2001. Toward the end of his career and long in to his retirement he owned and operated Uncle Al's Carving Wood.
Al enjoyed being involved in the community serving in many different organizations; one year as 4H Leader, twelve years as Scoutmaster of Troop 1024, Parish Council of St. Anthony Church, various officer positions of the Archery Club, 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, USS Princeton Veterans reunion club, and Commander and Quarter Master of local VFW posts.
He is survived by his son, Vernal (Sue); two grandsons, Max and Alex (Hannah); two brothers, Kevin (Sandy) and Wayne; and sister-in-law, Monie.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Verla; parents, August and Isabel; infant brother, Merne; sister, Ila Mae (Richard); four brothers, Dale (Evelyn), Marvin, Dean, Vernon (Dorothy); and sister-in-law, Clarice.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2025 after 4:00 pm at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls and will conclude with a prayer service by the Knights of Columbus at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday at the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial with military honors at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Coleman.
